- Cast nylon is typically used for larger parts and offers better dimensional stability in thick sections; extruded nylon is more consistent for smaller, precision-machined components.
- Is nylon suitable for food contact?
- Specific food-grade formulations are manufactured to meet FDA requirements — general industrial nylon grades are not food-contact suitable.
- Does nylon absorb moisture?
- Yes — nylon can absorb up to several percent of its weight in moisture, which affects dimensional tolerances. This should be factored into precision part design.
