PEEK (Polyetheretherketone)
PEEK is among the highest-performing engineering thermoplastics available, holding mechanical strength and chemical resistance at continuous service temperatures up to roughly 250 °C. It's specified where metal replacement, sterilizability, or extreme reliability under load matters — semiconductor processing, medical devices, and high-temperature industrial components. PEEK carries a higher material cost than mid-tier engineering plastics, which is generally justified only where its specific performance profile is actually required.

Grades carried
Grade selection
Grades are listed with the duty each is normally specified against. Food-contact status applies to the individual grade, not to the material family.
8 grades listed
| Grade | Notes | Contact status |
|---|---|---|
| PEEK Unfilled Virgin Natural | General-purpose, highest chemical purity | Industrial |
| Ketron® 1000 | Unfilled virgin, precision machining grade | Industrial |
| Ketron® HPV | Bearing grade, improved wear resistance | Industrial |
| Ketron® GF30 | 30% glass filled, dimensional stability | Industrial |
| Ketron® CA30 | 30% carbon filled, higher stiffness | Industrial |
| Ketron® TX | FDA-compliant bearing grade | Food contact |
| VICTREX® PEEK 450G | Unfilled virgin, medical-adjacent applications | Industrial |
| TECAPEEK® series (multiple) | Broad range of filled and unfilled variants | Industrial |
Trade names are the property of their respective manufacturers and are listed to identify the grades we stock. Availability varies by form and lot — confirm the current stock position before releasing a drawing to production.
Typical properties
Performance envelope
Typical values for unfilled grades at 23 °C. These are indicative for grade selection, not specification limits — certificates of analysis are issued against the shipped lot.
Common applications
- Medical device components
- Semiconductor processing parts
- High-temperature bearings and seals
- Aerospace-adjacent components
- Precision electrical insulators
Compliance
Standards available on selected grades
Damrix Plastics is a distributor. The standards below are held by the certified manufacturing partners in our supply chain and apply to specific grades and lots — not to the family as a whole, and not as a Damrix certification.
Every shipment is released with a certificate of conformance and lot-level traceability. Certificates of analysis, FDA food-contact statements and biocompatibility summaries are issued on request against the specific grade supplied.
Common questions
PEEK specification questions
The questions raised most often during grade selection. If your application sits outside these answers, send the operating conditions and we will confirm the grade.
- Why is PEEK so much more expensive than other engineering plastics?
- PEEK raw material and processing costs are significantly higher due to its complex polymer chemistry, but it delivers heat resistance, strength, and chemical resistance that few other thermoplastics can match — often replacing metal components at a fraction of the weight.
- Is PEEK sterilizable?
- Certain grades withstand repeated steam autoclave sterilization without significant degradation, making PEEK a common choice for reusable medical instruments. Confirm the specific grade for your sterilization method.
- What's the difference between glass-filled and carbon-filled PEEK?
- Glass filling improves dimensional stability and reduces cost slightly; carbon filling improves stiffness and wear resistance further, at a higher price point.
